Scent Suggestion by Type of Year

We burn scented candles because we like the way they smell, and we love to make our house smell inviting. Even if you don't realize it, some scents are best during certain seasons. The following are suggestions on what you can be happy burning depending on the time of year.

Fall Scent Suggestions

Bakery scents or other "warm" scents work best this time of year. One of the top sellers is pumpkin pie, especially in the month of October. Other bakery scents might include apple pie, cookie scents, or just regular vanilla. Any type of apple is another great scent for fall.

Winter Scent Suggestions

While you still want the same "warm" scents as you would burn in the fall, be sure to also look for holiday scented candles only available this time of year. Other scents you might look for would include peppermint, eucaliptus, etc. (See specific Christmas scented candles here.)

Spring Scent Suggestions

Spring is all about florals and those needed hints of spring. Sometimes spring can still be cold, so burning candles with floral scents can help beat the cabin fever. Lilac, lily of the valley, and even fresh "outdoor" scents are perfect this time of year. Florals may not be a favorite to some, so you might look for blends of florals with other ingredients as well (fruits, vanilla, etc).

Summer Scent Suggestions

Strong fruity scents are perfect for summer. Strawberry, pineapple, or other berry/fruit blends go well with this season. Most candle stores offer a wonderful selection of fruity blends.

Any Time Suggestions

Once in awhile a scent comes along that just works for any time of year. One of the most popular is  Sweet Orange and Chili Pepper. Strange combination, but the scent is FANTASTIC. Other types of scents that work all year round are ones such as baby powder or baby blends, designer scent duplications (or perfume type scents), and other interesting blends. Any type of vanilla usually fits any type of year as well.

No matter what time of year though, be sure you are getting a scent you know you'll like. If the seasonal scent suggestions don't appeal to you, try one that will work any time of year. Remember your preferences come before what's "in".
